Film Update

Abducted to Kill_Poster_APR2013_DHi there, Y’all,

I’ve decided to keep y’all updated on our progress in securing the production of Abducted to Kill and the business end of Higher Ground Films. So far to date, seven of us have been meeting every month, praying, discussing, and arranging the production.

We have polished and finalized the writing of the first script of Higher Ground Films. Once we had finished writing the script we sent it to Ted Baehr at MOVIEGUIDE®. He and his team evaluated it for viability with a bottom line of, “Will it make money?”

What kind of role models, positive and negative, are the main characters?  Who is the hero and who is the villain? Do the moral statements and themes agree with a biblical worldview? Are real consequences to sin exposed and rebuked? How are relationships and love portrayed? How are Christians, religion, the church, the Bible, and God portrayed? Does the language honor God and people? If violence is included, how is it presented? How much nudity or sexual activity is included?  How appropriate is this material for my family and me? With a rap up of a Bible ve4-26-2012rse to help us understand and discern. “Give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong.” – 1 Kings 3:9

We were pleasantly surprised with the answer. Our film received one “A” but it was rated “R” and that was not acceptable. We were also given suggestions for changes, which we made.

Then we sent it back for a second evaluation. In this evaluation, we received a “PG-13″ rating and “As” across the board with more suggestions for changes. There was a lot of work that still needed to be done in characterizations, actions, resolutions, and so forth. So I shut everyone out and read, reread, and analyzed what to do and how and set about working on the corrections. When I finished I sent it to Gene for his input and to Lena for her recommendations and to polish it up.

We all agreed that we now have a great script and in a few days, I’ll let you know what we are doing next to assure the production.

Until then may God bless you and bring us all into a right relationship with Him.

Love in Christ,

  • I count it an honor to be on the team of Higher Ground Films and to be able to contribute in whatever ways I can. The script is excellent – timely, pertinent, and captivating – with a universal message. Pola, the others on the executive team, and I have have been diligently serving to refine and review every element during the pre-production phase. It is truly a blessing that we received the grade of “A” in so many areas by MOVIEGUIDE®. Its review and analysis of the script for “Abducted to Kill” that resulted in extremely high marks is not only encouraging, but practically assures that every benchmark that can be measured will be achieved successfully once the movie is in distribution.

Higher Ground Films now seeks additional investors who will do their due diligence to investigate the possibilities of partnering with us in the production of this venture. We anticipate that this film will be very profitable; yet more importantly, viewers’ lives will be changed after experiencing “Abducted to Kill.” And this can have eternal significance. In my humble estimation it is critical that this film be produced as soon as is humanly possible. The time is NOW!
